The National PTA believes all children deserve a quality arts education and
encourages students to pursue artistic expression through participation in its
annual arts program: Reflections. The Reflections Program offers students
the opportunity to create a work of art for fun and recognition. Students in
Preschool through Grade 12 are encouraged to create and submit works of art in
the following areas:
 | Literature
 | Musical Composition
 | Photography
 | Visual Arts (to include art forms such as drawing,
painting, print making and collage.) |
 | Film/Video |
 | Dance |

Reflections submissions are due in November.
Winning entries are selected by a panel of judges, and these entries are
forwarded to the NH PTA for the state competition. Winning entries
then continue on to the national level.

The National PTA encourages parents to take an active role in dealing with
television violence and its impact on our children, but also recognizes that
television can educate, inspire and entertain. Parents are encouraged
to develop "critical viewing skills" by limiting hours of TV watching,
choosing programs carefully and encouraging TV as a tool for learning. For
one week in April, children at HCS are encouraged to avoid TV in what is known
as TV Turn Off Week.

In 1990, the National PTA recognized the importance of the environment to the
health and safety of our children and designated one week in April as
Earth Week. During this week, PTA members across the country focus their
attention on the environment and plant seeds of change so that environmental
awareness and concern grow from a once-a-year activity to a year-round
attitude.

Another favorite! Staff Appreciation Week occurs in May.
The Hampstead PTA uses this week as an opportunity to plan events that focus attention on the outstanding work of our public school staff members
(and bus drivers!). Their dedication and expertise form the
cornerstone of Hampstead's outstanding educational system.
