PTSA Reflections Art Program

All ages and abilities are encouraged to apply. Every student is recognized for their accomplishments with the opportunity for state and national awards. If your child has a passion for the arts, this is a wonderful way to express their unique creativity!

Join the Celebration!

Students are recognized each year for their artistic ingenuity to bring the theme to life in a way that is personal and meaningful. We will be showcasing all of our Hampstead School District entries for the community to enjoy!

Congratulations to our students who placed! Of the 6 entries, we had 3 of them place! Pretty cool.

PTSA Reflections

What is PTA Reflections?

The National PTA Reflections program encourages students in preschool through grade 12 to create and submit original works of art in the medium of their choice— dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts — reflecting on a specific theme. This year the Theme of the Reflections Competition is, "What is Your Story?"

My child is interested, how can I help them get started?

Try this Reflections Activity:
With your child, write a list of words and draw pictures of as many things that you think of that relate to one or more of the prompts below. Remember there are no wrong answers. Once done, admire the list or pictures that you've created together and use this as inspiration for your child’s Reflections submission.
  • Imagine you are having a dinner with your favorite person. What would you want to share with this person about your life?
  • Think about your first day of school. What did you tell your new classmates about yourself or what didn't you tell them - but wish they knew?
  • Think about the most important day in your life. What does that day look like, sound like, smell like or feel like?

What's the deadline?

The deadline for Hampstead entries is Monday, November 21, 2016.

Where can I get an entry form? And how do I submit a finished project?

Forms are available for download here. An individual entry form is required for each entry. The art teachers at HCS (Mr. Terrile) and HMS (Mrs. Downey) are collecting entries.

Rules Packet for all categories can be downloaded here. Please read over the rules of entries (the summary and the rules for your category of interest.) There are size restrictions and other rules that must be followed. Works are to be 100% original and designed specifically for the program. Entries cannot be assignments from previous/current courses or be teacher-assisted.
